RCWA was created for workers to address their needs and concerns in their workplaces and communities after a listening process in rural America.

What is the Rural Community Workers Alliance?

Our Origin

Rural Community Workers Alliance sprung out of the rural midwest to protect the rights of the most vulnerable demographic groups in the area, beginning in Milan, Missouri.

The goal of RCWA is to build and strengthen the engagement of low-wage immigrant and refugee workers in their local communities. RCWA seeks to address the root causes of the problems faced by its members, secure improved community health systems and services, and ensure workplace safety for food industry workers.

RCWA’s organizational focus, mission, and initiatives are based on the knowledge and experiences of our workers and community members, and our actions are led by those most affected by them.

Our Partners

Rural Community Workers Alliance has been working for years to address issues facing workers, but we are not alone. By partnering and working collectively with a number of other community organizations and initiatives we are able to make the voices of our constituents heard.

Our community partnerships include universities, congregations, and other local and national social justice organizations.

RCWA is also a proud member of the Food Chain Workers Alliance, HEAL Alliance and Food Sovereignty Alliance.
